We would like to start by telling you a little about screen printing and the way it works, and what has to happen to successfully print your item!! This all starts with you the customer, whether you are needing something for your business, organization, fundraiser, school, events, family functions or a branded item for resale. We will work with you to develop and refine your ideas in order to produce a quality screen printed product.
Now, to help you understand the screen printing process and enhance our business relationship we have put together a few of the main steps in the process:
Step 1
Step one starts with you and these procedures:
A. Finding your design this can be (clipart, internet graphic, sketch, or if you choose we can design a custom logo for you.) See our design staff, art pages, and samples for ideas.
B. Type of Item you wish to have printed: t-shirt, hoodie, cap. etc.
C. Color of Item you wish you have printed: Black, white, Red, Blue EXAMPLE
D. Placement of the print: Full front, Full back, Back & Front, left chest etc.
E. Placement of the print: Full front, Full back, Back & Front, left chest etc.
Step 2
After we have received all of Step 1 A thru E and your contact information step two will begin. This is where all your design information moves to our art design department. This is where any customization of your submitted artwork or in some cases logo design will begin. After we have completed the artwork and has been proofed (proofing is usually a paper print out or a email of the design for you to tell us your likes or dislikes) so we may make changes if necessary. Proof are usually only sent on orders of 100 or more. Or if you are paying for a custom logo design.
Step 3
After the artwork approval, color separations of your design and film production begins (films are sheets that look much like a 35mm camera negative except much larger.)
Screen Production: Often referred to as burning your screens. Each color in your shirt has to have a screen built so for example: If you have a dark (blue, black, etc.) t-shirt printed with 3 colors you will have to have 4 screen burned. One for under base and then one for each color (under base is a coating of white used on dark garments). the white will then be covered by the other print colors which will make design show more bright and colorful.
Step 5
Set up of the actual printing press. The screen will be loaded in order by colors to be printed. There after test printing and registering will begin. After we have aligned you screens your shirts are ready for printing.
Step 6
Curing of Ink: After the shirt is printed the ink must be cured in a dryer. After the proper curing time has passed we will then box your shirts ready for delivery. We hope that these steps has helped you in understanding the process that must happen when making a screen printing order.
Direct to Garment
Digital Screen Printing
Direct to Garment Printing aslo known as Digital Screen Prining, or D.T.G. is used of a large format inkjet printer is used to print a design directly onto a garment.
Much like a normal desktop printer would print on paper except bigger. The D.T.G. is a great choice for small and medium amounts of shirts. D.T.G. printers can print hundreds of colors at NO extra charge like screen print and can create photo quality images.
